Abrahamic Religions -

The Abrahamic religions mainly consists of three major religions namely Judaism,Christianity and Islam respectively as per the series of their Origin. All the three religions claim to be Monotheistic and had there genesis in west Asia ( Middle-East) .There are an estimated 3.8 billion followers to these religions accounting to about half of the World's population. Some theologists include the Baha'i faith as Abrahamic.
All these religions claim to have a direct lineage to Prophet Abraham,as he (PBUH) is mentioned in all the three holy books ( The Torah, The Bible & The Qur'an )with great importance and thats the reason why they are called Abrahamic religions.Though its known as Abrahamic , the muslims call the Prophet as Ibrahim and the Jews as Avraham or Abram.
The Muslim lineage to Abraham is through his son Ismail (Ishmael) born to Hagar  whereas the Jewish lineage is through his Other son Issac( Izhaaq) born to Sarah.
All the three religions gives equal importance to the holy city of Jerusalem (translated as 'the City of Peace').

-For Jews - Jerusalem is Important as it was once declared the Capital of Israel by David and his Son Solomon built the first temple on Mount Moriah .The Jews even offer their prayers in this direction thrice a    day.  Even the famous weeping Wall is Situated in Jerusalem.
-For Christians -As per the New Testament Jerusalem was the City Jesus Christ was born and brought up.
he preached and healed in this City.Had the last Supper here.He was arrested and Crucified here.
It is believed that his burial,re-surrection and the prophecy to return all happened here.
-For Muslims -  This City became a very holy place to muslims like Mecca and Medinah. The Al-Aqsa       Mosque(translated as 'the farthest mosque'is situated in this City. Muslims used to pray towards Jerusalem before it was amended to pray towards Mecca. Another reason of significance is its connection with the Mi'iraj  (the Prophet Muhammad’s ascension to heaven).

The Great flood and the Story of Noah's Ark are mentioned in all the three holy books alike with great importance.
The Three faiths believe in the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Paradise to the Earth for misconduct
and the ancestry of other Prophets like Enoch (Idris), Noah(Nuh), Abraham, Ishmael, Ishaaq, Lut(Lot),
Ya'qub (Jacob), Yousef (Joseph), Shu'aib, Ayyub (Job), Musa (Moses), Haroon (Aaron), Dhu'l-Kifl (Ezekiel), Dawood(David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ilias (Elias), Al-Yasa (Elisha), Younus (Jonah),  Zakariyya (Zechariah ), Yahya (John ) and ( Eesa (Jesus) -among Christians and muslims).
